 | Be Informed - know as much information about the company before you go for
the interview. |
 | Dress for Success - For Men, a dark suit, light shirt, dark
tie. For women, a business suit or dark skirt, light blouse and
dark jacket, and skin tone stockings. Remember, you only get one
chance to make a good first impression. |
 | Fill out the Application - Many companies will judge your ability to
follow directions, and your willingness to cooperate. |
 | Bring a Resume - Take at least one but you may need more for each
additional person you may meet. |
 | Know who you are talking to - Be sure to get names of each person you
meet. Get a business card if you can. |
 | Answer Questions Directly - Get right to the point, don't elaborate.
When asked a question which seems to require a complex answer, ask
back "What would you like to know?" Stick to Business
- don't wander. |
 | Ask Good Questions - Ask only about the company and/or position.
Don't ask about all the benefits, if they want to talk about benefits they will bring
them up. Save the questions about benefits for the 2nd
interview. |
 | Show Confidence - relate your experience to their needs. |
 | Show Interest - A firm expression of interest goes a long way towards
getting you that offer. |
 | Follow up - Send a note repeating your interest in the
position. |
